In a Saturday Fashion: The Dress I Made

Posted on March 12, 2011 by Anna Denise - Nineteen comments
This Saturday we're having a less than ordinary edition of In a Saturday Fashion. I'd like to introduce you to Renske Solkesz and her blog 'The Dress I Made'. The reason is that last week, when my friend asked me where I got my awesome bag, I promised to feature it on my blog. Now, I have deep, deep respect for Renske. Dissatisfied with the quality of the clothes for sale in stores, this talented young Dutch designer decided last year that from now on, she would make all her clothes herself. The result is amazing, to say the least. I've grown kind of obsessed with her amazing taste, great technique (for as far as I can tell), and the beautiful photos she posts on her blog. Being the proud owner of Renske's Ying Yang bag, I can tell you her sewing is very delicate and detailed and the design is so simple yet ingenious. I hope she turns her attention to fashion full time (if she hasn't already), because I would love to buy one of those amazing dresses of hers. Links: Weblog | Etsy Shop

In a Saturday Fashion: Summer is Nude and Gold

Posted on February 26, 2011 by Anna Denise - Fourteen comments
It's sad when you realize that all year around you're just obsessing about what to wear when the sun finally starts shining again only to realize that you have more summery clothes than summery days in the year.

I think I own five times more summery dresses than wintery sweaters. Considering I wear the latter about five times more often than the former, we can only conclude that either I smell or I should just stop shopping for summery clothes. Or both. Quite possibly its both.

So, in line with my no-shopping rule - I am just going to online window shop. So - here's a collection of things I can't afford (to be fair, I can't even afford lunch these days) and won't buy anytime soon. But they're pretty and I might wear something old that is nude and accessorize with yellow and gold.

In a Saturday Fashion: Pale January

Posted on January 8, 2011 by Anna Denise - 121 comments
So January isn't my favorite month of the bunch. It's gray and cold, and any bit of the tan I got last summer is gone fo-evah. But... but... the light does seem more pale, a little lighter than it did in December. So here are some things that reminded me of January. Have a great Saturday! Links: 1. So, I know you all think I'm pretty great and all, but in fact - I suck. Let me tell you why. So I've been planning today and today's blogpost all week. My family was coming over, I did some fun crafty projects to share with you on Monday, I took some shots of my awesome Chrismassy interior, and I had planned my outfit carefully. I was going to ask my sweet, lovely boyfriend to take a picture of my fabulous self and my outfit and post all of it here including links to the shops where I bought everything.

So that's what you're not getting. Well. You're getting the links. And a carefully photoshopped image of what I wore. But not the real deal. I know. I suck. I told you.

Links: 1. Navette Chandelier Earrings from Accessorize | 2. Gypsy Mix Bangles, also from Accessorize (god, I love their stuff) | 3. Dogeared Camel Leather And Gold Plated Believe Mantra Bracelet from Asos | 4. Gallop with Glamor dress from ModCloth (it has an elastic waistband - perfect for big dinners) | 5. Men's watch by Diesel, borrowed indefinitely from my brother | 6. Le Vernis Particulière by Chanel | 7. Cognac Leather Boots from Sacha (my go-to shoes this fall and winter) | 8. A classic leather belt, not unlike this one from SuburbanLeatherworks. I paired it with some navy tights I don't even remember buying.

Otherwise, besides the fact that I failed at being a professional blogger and all that - the party was great. Great company, great food, great fun, and great gifts. Yay for belated Sinterklaas / early Christmas parties!
Hope you're having a swell weekend as well! Comment »

My Soft Bed

Posted on December 11, 2010 by Anna Denise - 100 comments
I had planned a different post for today. I had planned a party with friends this Saturday evening and a very social Sunday morning, afternoon and evening. I was going to wear my pretty dress and kick everyones ass in the pub quiz.

But, alas, I think some force out there really wants my social life to completely shrivel up and die so instead, it's me, my cat, my puke bucket (classy), and a family-sized pack of tissues in bed. Woe is me. Even though I have decided that carrot soup (from the microwave) is the answer to all my problems, I figured checking out pretty soft colored bedding and lounge clothes and accessories on the internets is probably very good for my health, too. I should be a doctor really. Rule no1: Eat carrot soup, rule no2: spend time on internet checking out pretty things.

Wandering Vine Teacup and Saucer by Flossy-P.

And OMG how gorgeous is this blanket from Urban Outfitters? I NEEED. Rule no3: Buy Anna pretty blankets with geometric shapes that kind of look like native American design gone eighties. Link: Urban Outfitters Eyes Tapestry Throw

Have a great weekend everyone. I sincerely hope you're having a better time than I am. By myself. While my boyfriend is out partying. Ahem. Yes. I really am the saddest thing when I'm sick. Cheers!
